Veteran presented with hand-powered cycle at La Crosse Loggers game

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — An Iraq war veteran was presented with a special hand-powered cycle at the La Crosse Loggers game Monday evening.

Ryan Zimmer was severely injured in an explosion, which left him with permanent damage in his legs and back.

The Struck-Klandrud Post 336 American Legion in Onalaska and the Loggers teamed up to present him with the cycle.

After years of searching, this opportunity was special for Zimmer.

“It’s been three years of hunting and searching different places to go and try to get sponsored, and for me to come to the American Legion, not thinking it would actually go through,” Zimmer said.

But it did go through, and Zimmer says he is so thankful.

Zimmer is now a member of the American Legion. He said the opportunity has been amazing.
