Vernon County man injured in logging accident

CASHTON, Wis. (WKBT) — A 41-year old Cashton man was injured severely while cutting down a tree on Monday in the town of Clinton.

Alvin Miller was logging with two other Amish when the tree fell and struck his upper body, according to a news release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office. One person got help while the other stayed with Miller.

The sheriff’s office received a call at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Emergency responders came to the scene at County Road D and McDaniel Road using off-road vehicles and four-wheel-drive trucks.

Gundersen Air was at the scene, and health-care staff stabilized Miller until he was transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital. Despite those severe injuries, Miller is expected to recover fully, according to the sheriff’s office release.

The incident remains under investigation.
