Vernon County is recommending masks for everyone

VIROQUA (WKBT) — Vernon County’s health officials are recommending people don their masks again to help stop the spread of COVID-10.

The county has a substantial risk of community spread of COVID-19, according to the health director Amy Kleiber.

“Therefore at this time it is recommended that everyone wear a mask when you are in indoor public spaces or at indoor private gatherings, regardless of vaccination status,” said Kleiber in a press release. “Masks are recommended for people aged two and older.”

Kleiber reminded people in her county that washing hands frequently, maintaining distance when possible and keeping things clean can help stop the spread of COVID-19.

“Being mindful of your daily activities can help stop transmission of any viral infection. We can all use the lessons learned in the past year to help slow the rates of transmission,” she said.

“Please remember that in Vernon County we still have populations that are very vulnerable to severe illness that can be caused by COVID-19. It is up to us all to help protect the overall health of our community,” Kleiber added.

Those who haven’t received a vaccine can visit or call 608-637-5251 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
