Vernon County authorities looking for suspects in construction site thefts

VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and the Viroqua Police Department are working together on two construction trailer theft cases.

On June 3 between 2 and 3 p.m., two construction trailers were broken into at a site along Highway 14 south of Viroqua. Items taken include two Topcon RLH5A laser levels in yellow cases valued at $750 each. Five cordless 9.6 volt Max RB655 rebar tying guns valued at $2600 each were also stolen from the trailers.

Crews reporting to the worksite the following morning reported the thefts to police.

In addition, the Viroqua Police Department received a report of theft at an enclosed trailer parked in a motel parking lot, also on June 3 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Several power saws and related accessories were taken.

Law enforcement obtained a video of a black Chevrolet or GMC 4-door pickup truck. Attached to the truck was a single-axle trailer with camouflage side-by-side UTV. The vehicle traveled south on Highway 14/61 and was last seen on video in Soldiers Grove.
