Verna Lorraine Yaun went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Thornton Manor in Lansing, IA. Verna was born April 12, 1928 to Arthur and Edith Billings (Monroe). Verna spent much of her youth assisting her mother on the switchboard that was located in their home. She attended schools in De Soto, Lansing and Viroqua, graduating from Viroqua in 1946. She then worked at the LaCrosse Phone Company and the Tobacco Warehouse. Verna married Logan Yaun on August 5, 1950 at the Methodist parsonage in De Soto. They resided in West Prairie where they farmed for a few years. After leaving the farm, they purchased the home place in De Soto where they raised their sons. Verna became a member of the De Soto Lutheran Church in 2004. She loved her family, flowers, crafting and reading.
She is survived by her sons, William and Scott (Cindy), both in De Soto, three grandsons, Shane of Texas and Adam and Jordan of DeSoto, one great grandson Cathan of Texas, a brother Billy Billings of Eureka Springs AR, two sisters, Hazel Long of Mountain Home, AR and Charlene Henderson of Janesville, WI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Logen, infant son Larry Lee, sisters Gwendolynne Mead (Leslie), Virginia Edgington (John), brother-in-law Glen Henderson, nephews Gordan Edgington, Earl John Mead and Jacob Mayfield and Gary and niece Patricia.
