Vehicle hits horse-drawn buggy in Vernon County
2 people, horse injured in crash
VERNON COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) — Two people were injured after a vehicle hit the back of a horse-drawn buggy in the Town of Jefferson Tuesday morning.
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office said a 16-year-old girl from rural Viroqua, was traveling eastbound on County Road KK near Helgeson Road when she struck the rear of a horse-drawn buggy.
Samuel Mast, 21, and Ervin Miller, 30, were operating the buggy and were injured in the crash. Mast and Miller, both of rural Chaseburg, refused ambulance transport but were taken to Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua by private vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office said both airbags in the vehicle deployed. The 16-year-old driver and her 13-year-old passenger were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
The vehicle and the buggy were severely damaged. The horse received minor cuts.
