UWL students hand out blankets and cards for breast cancer patients

LA CROSSE (WKBT)–UW-La Crosse is helping patients fight breast cancer, one blanket at a time.

On Friday, the co-ed Delta Sigma Pi fraternity gave out blankets and cards to cancer patients at Mayo Clinic Health System.

Students made blankets and cards last week during a recruitment event.

According to UWL fraternity leaders, giving back to the community remains a top priority.

“We really just want to make sure our presence is felt in the community,” said Senior Vice President Nick Howard. “We help people. And that’s what we do as an organization and hopefully continuing to work with Mayo Clinic moving forward.”

The donation is part of the Greek life group’s service project.

It only took an hour for the crew to make all the blankets and cards for the cancer patients because so many UWL students volunteered.
