UWL implements no-guest policy over Oktoberfest weekend
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Oktoberfest kicks off in La Crosse Thursday and UW-La Crosse is continuing its ‘no-guests’ policy this year.
Starting Friday morning residents are not allowed to have any overnight guests stay in their dorm rooms. Doors to the residence halls will also be locked all weekend unless you have a key to get in. This comes after several incidents around the campus over the past few years, including multiple cars being flipped.
UWL’s chancellor says the biggest challenge for police is keeping an eye on guests of students living off-campus.
“When you have an influx of people from out of town, they will come into those neighborhoods looking for the parties and that’s where sometimes we’ve seen some of those destructive behaviors happen,” said Chancellor Joe Gow.
This will be the UWL’s fourth year implementing the ‘no guests’ policy.
