UWL hosts State Solo & Ensemble and 1,000 students

Annual event has become a tradition in families

Students were putting their musical talents to the test Saturday at UW-La Crosse.

State Solo and Ensemble was held at the university, hosting high school and middle school musicians and singers. Instrumentals and vocals both drifted through the halls, with students performing by themselves or as a group.

With more than 10,000 participants at locations statewide, the annual event has become a tradition for many families.

“At WSMA we love the tradition that this event is. Most of the students here have parents and grandparents and maybe even great grandparents who have taken part in state solo and ensemble through the years in Wisconsin,” said WSMA Program Director Shelley Hooper.
