UW-La Crosse’s new academic building set to open soon

LA CROSSE, Wis. —  UW-La Crosse’s new academic hall is set to be open for students this fall.  Wednesday, we got a sneak peak inside the state of the art building.

For the past two years, construction crews have been working on Centennial Hall which has 44 classrooms that can hold 5,000 students at a time.

It also has the latest technology to allow for interactive teaching, small group discussion and project work.  “We haven’t had a new classroom building on campus since the mid-70s and that would be what was then called North Hall, now it’s called Wimberly Hall. So we’ve needed this for a long long time. And it’s wonderful to be getting it just as we move into the second century of operations here,” says Chancellor Joe Gow.

The project cost 40 million dollars, 37 million of which came from the state.  Donors raised the remaining three-million dollars.

Dedication of Centennial Hall is set for later this month.
