UW- La Crosse students preparing for St. Baldrick’s

Students at UW- La Crosse are preparing for the annual St. Baldrick’s fundraiser.

For more than a decade, St. Baldrick’s has been raising money for childhood cancer research. People can register for the event and collect donations, and the day of the event, have their head shaved at UWL.

The event, which is open to both students and community members, raised $12,000 last year alone.

New this year to the event will be the ‘Wall of Love,’ a mural made up of photos and stories of people whose lives have been affected by cancer.

“If a person has themselves, or a family member or friend, has battled with cancer and passed away or survived, they can submit pictures and tell their story about how cancer affected their life.” says Claire Howard, student chair for St. Baldrick’s.

People can submit their stories ahead of time to Claire or can add their stories to the mural the day of the event. St. Baldrick’s will take place April 21 from 12-3 PM at the REC Center on UWL’s campus.

People who would like to register for the event ahead of time can do so on the St. Baldrick’s website.

Anyone with a story to share for the ‘Wall of Love’ mural can send their story and photos to Claire Howard at howard.claire@uwlax.edu.
