UW-La Crosse students pay it forward to those in need
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Some UW La Crosse students are paying it forward for National TRIO Day.
They are part of Student Support Services, which is a federally funded TRIO program.
It helps first-generation college students, low-income individuals, and those with disabilities.
Those in the program are giving back to the community by making fleece blankets.
They will be donated to area shelters, youth centers, and hospitals.
It’s one way to help people who have been in similar situations.
“It’s not only about having them involved in making the blankets but also they will be able to go with us to hand the blankets out to these organizations and I think that’s almost more important than making blankets. They are seeing how grateful these organizations are and how much people in La Crosse are in need of these things,” said Megan Gosse, Advising Coordinator for UWL Student Support Services.
UWL started participating in the event last year.
