UW-La Crosse Police Chief releases statement on death of George Floyd
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – UW-La Crosse Chief of Police Allen Hill issued a statement today regarding the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Chief Hill took to Facebook sharing his outrage for the senseless killing and reprehensible actions of Minneapolis police officers last week. Chief Hill emphasized that the actions of the Minnesota officers do not reflect the values or actions of the UW-La Crosse Police Department.
“It is our mission to treat every member of our campus and community with care, respect and dignity. Incidents such as this, when a man struggling to breathe received not help but more unnecessary force, do nothing to keep people safe. They diminish trust between police and the public and erase goodwill we work so hard to build among the people we serve,” Chief Hill said.
