UW La Crosse Mens Basketball points to senior leadership as source of success

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)–Four seniors have helped lead the way for UW La Crosse this year, and they’ve been filling big shoes, as 5 seniors left last year.

Zach Haes currently has 12 points per game, and is shooting 44 % from beyond the arc.

Terek Nesheim averages 9.5 points per game, and Luke Norcia leads the team with 42 assists.

Stats aside, Coach says it’s the work they’ve put into practice, teaching younger players how to win has been their biggest contribution.

“They’re leading the way and for those four seniors buying into what we’re trying to do, going into new roles to what they had last year after what we’ve graduated. It just says so much about them and their leadership, and obviously the underclassmen underneath them,” said Coach Dernbach.

“Especially early on it’s just important to show the ropes, we had 6 new guys come in at the start of the season, haven’t been through a practice with coach or even a college practice. So setting the standard and showing them what it takes for a team to be successful at this level, I think we did a good job early on and now everyone’s on the same page,” said Senior Forward Terek Nesheim.
