UW-La Crosse, local police to search for missing student Hamud Faal

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, local police and the family of Hamud Faal will be in Riverside Park Saturday to search for the missing UW-L student.

Twenty-five-year-old Faal was last seen early Sunday morning walking alone near Front and Jay streets. The La Crosse Police Department has asked anyone with information to contact them.

The search will begin at noon Saturday. All volunteers must check-in at the traffic circle at the end of State Street in Riverside Park, where the Eagle statue was previously located.

All individuals will need to provide their name, phone number, email and address. Organizers say it is vital that all volunteers check in and out to ensure their safety.

Groups will be assigned quadrants for the search and must stay together. The search will conclude once all quadrants have been searched or before dark, whichever comes first.

Volunteers need to be aware of the weather and dress appropriately. They are also encouraged to wear a safety vest if they have one.
