UW-La Crosse hosts Youth Sport and Fitness Camp
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Area kids were staying active during their winter breaks from school.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse hosted their annual ‘Youth Sport and Fitness Camp’ on Monday.
About 40 kids ages 5-14 years old could play a variety sports including football, hockey, and soccer. Along with sports, the kids learned about teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness.
While the snow is falling, organizers say it’s still important to keep kids active.
“Our goal, or my promise to parents, is that we’ll wear them out. So, we rotate things that we’re playing each half hour and they’re tired by the end of the day,” said Deb Sazama, the UWL Director of the Physical Education Teacher’s Program.
Every year the camp is staffed by by UWL Physical Education majors.
