UW-La Crosse Dining Service donates food to local elementary schools
Food also donated to UWL's campus food pantry
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A food donation will help School District of La Crosse students while school is out of session.
UW-La Crosse’s Dining Program delivered cereal, apple sauce and granola bars to Emerson and Northside Elementary Schools Tuesday morning.
The donations along with other donated food will now be supplied to students by school staff.
When the food is dropped off, it can be easy to see the impact it is having.
“This kind of stuff gets them excited. So when we go out and we do the deliveries, we try to get a wave from the kids. We really do miss the kids. All the teachers and everybody misses the kids, so this gives us the waves that we need and want,” said Emerson Elementary counselor Michelle Torgerson.
Food is also being donated to UWL’s Campus Food Pantry.
