UW-L graduate giving up city council seat
City Council President says new member will have big shoes to fill
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse’s City Council is looking to find a replacement for one of its members.
Recent UW-La Crosse graduate Katherine Svitavsky is stepping down from her District 5 seat. Svitavsky represented the area around the UW-L campus.
Council members say whoever takes her spot has some big shoes to fill.
“We’re spoiled Katharine took this very seriously and I think was a cut above even some other council member in terms of research we did and initiatives she started and so forth. I mean she, whoever takes this position they might be 20 years old but they have as much say as a young guy like me,” said City Council President Dick Swantz.
Svitavsky has served on the council since 2012.
