Utility crews prepared if storms impacts region

Utility crews are preparing for the winter weather Strong winds and snowfall can cause power outages.

Always remember to stay away from downed power lines as they could still be live.

If you have a natural gas meter, it should be clear of snow, as it can cause a dangerous build up of gas indoors.

And if you do have a power outage you’re encouraged to contact your utility provider as soon as possible.

“It’s very important for customers to report an outage so that we’re aware of it, we need to be alerted from customers that there is an outage, so we can respond to it quickly,” said Alex Lueck, Xcel Energy Key Account Manager.

You also shouldn’t use a space heater if it is cracked or has a broken plug.
