Used soccer jerseys donated to Haiti

Old soccer equipment from our area is getting a new life.

The La Crescent Youth Soccer Association is donating more than 100 soccer jerseys to children in Haiti.

A 2010 earthquake left the country’s infrastructure damaged and the Haitian people in need.

The donation became possible when the group partnered with the Minnesota based Sacred Heart Haiti mission which supplies humanitarian necessities to Haiti.

“It’s incredible expensive to ship down there. So it’s either that or wait for someone that can take them with them,” said Kate Tomten, President of the La Crescent Youth Soccer Association.

The La Crescent Youth Soccer Association is still looking to donate hundreds of more jerseys to other areas in need.
