UPDATE: Victims identified in Grant County shooting
6-year-old was killed, while woman and 8-year-old were injured
MONTFORT, Wis. (WKBT) — The names of those involved in a deadly shooting in Montfort Friday afternoon have been released.
Authorities responded to a home on the 300 block of East Main Street to find three people had been shot.
Six-year-old Jaxon Slaight was found dead at the scene, while 8-year-old, Joseph, was flown to a hospital in Madison and remains in critical condition.
The mother of the boys, Morgan, also suffered a gunshot wound and remains in critical condition.
The family lived with another couple in the house where the shooting happened. That couple was not involved.
The father of the boys is in the area. He was not living at the home with Morgan and the boys. Authorities do not consider the father to be a person of interest. ?
A six-year-old child is dead while another young child and a woman are injured after a shooting in Grant County Wisconsin.
They were shot inside their home earlier Friday afternoon in the small village of Montfort, just about 60 miles west of Madison.
The injured woman and an eight-year-old were airlifted to a hospital.
The grant county Sheriff says there is no indication there’s a threat to the community at this time.
No names have released as the investigation is still underway.
