UPDATE: Teen accused of assaulting guard will go to trial
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A teen charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and damage to property will go to trial.
On Wednesday, La Crosse County Court found that there is enough evidence for Hunter Turner to stand trial for assaulting a guard and another youth at the La Crosse County Juvenile Detention Center.
A ‘not guilty’ plead was entered.
A 16-year-old boy was charged in adult court Thursday after police say he assaulted a guard and another youth at the La Crosse County Juvenile Detention Center.
According to a criminal complaint, Hunter Turner smashed a cafeteria tray on a guard’s head then punched him multiple times Wednesday. He is also accused of punching another boy in the back of the head, causing a concussion. Turner told police he thought the other boy had been telling lies about him.
The Juvenile Detention Center employees confirmed Turner had been adjudicated as an adult. According to the criminal complaint, Turner was placed under arrest and taken to the La Crosse County Jail.
Turner is charged with battery by prisoner, disorderly conduct while armed, and two counts of criminal damage to property.
