UPDATE: Cell phone use a factor in deadly crash north of Fountain City, officials say

TOWN OF MILTON (WKBT) — Cell phone use was a factor in the crash that left one dead and others critically injured Wednesday, according to officials.

42-year-old Errol Doerr of Fountain City was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident involving three vehicles. Doerr’s vehicle was rear-ended as he attempted to make a left off of Highway 35 onto Henry Lane, putting his vehicle into oncoming traffic. Doerr’s vehicle was struck by oncoming traffic.

According to the release, the driver of the vehicle that rear-ended Doerr, 24-year-old Kaylee Tiffany of Cochrane, looked away from the road at her cell phone before the crash.

Doerr was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants in his vehicle, 39-year-old Denise Doerr and 9-year-old Samantha Doerr, were flown to St Mary’s in Rochester with life-threatening injuries.

All others involved were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

The accident is still under investigation.
