UPDATE: Names released of two killed in fiery crash near Sparta
SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) – The Wisconsin State Patrol has released the names of two people who died in a fiery crash when a Subaru Outback rear-ended a disabled semi on the shoulder of Interstate 90 near Sparta Monday night.
Killed were 24-year-old Jace M. Scholler, who was driving the 2013 Outback, and his passenger, Hannah E. Hood, 27, according to a State Patrol news release, which did not indicate where they lived.
State Patrol troopers responded to the crash at about 10 p.m. Monday on the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
When the Outback, which didn’t have headlights on, hit the semi, it went under the trailer and caught fire. The fire spread to the semi trailer, and Scholler and Hood died in the wreckage.
The 30-year-old driver of the 2021 International semi-tractor was not injured.
