Two arrested for vehicle theft in Allamakee County
POSTVILLE, Iowa (WKBT) — Two Iowa men were arrested last week in connection with a stolen truck.
According to the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, a Postville Police Department officer attempted to stop a red Chevrolet pickup at about 1:35 a.m. Oct. 14. Rather than stop, the driver, later identified as Blake A. Pohlman, 31, West Union, Iowa, attempted to evade police, eventually losing control of the vehicle and getting stuck in a ditch on Jefferson Road outside of the city.
Pohlman fled on foot and was found at about 2:40 a.m., then arrested on charges of second-degree theft, reckless driving, eluding police and two driving violations.
Later that morning, the sheriff’s office received a report of a vehicle stolen on Jefferson Road, which was later recovered in Waukon, Iowa.
Houston L. Halverson, 26, Postville, was arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, Halverson was the passenger in the red pickup. He had fled the scene and police believe he fled the scene and stole a second vehicle, according to authorities. He was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on charges of first-degree theft, third-degree theft, unauthorized use of a credit card and failure to have a valid license while operating a motor vehicle.
