‘Two-a-days’: The 2015 Sparta Spartans
Season Opener: Aug. 21 vs. Black River Falls
SPARTA, Wis (WKBT) — Coming off back-to-back one-win seasons, the Spartans look to solidify a program that is entering year four under head coach John Blaha.
Despite a small group of returning seniors, Sparta gets back plenty of experience on the offensive and defensive lines. And once again, success on offense will hinge on how well the team can run the football.
“For us, you are going to win and lose with the guys up front,” said Blaha. “There is no secret there, we are an option-geared team. When we have struggled, it is because we were weak there. We will go as far as they push us. “
Entering week two of camp, the biggest uncertainty is at quarterback.
“One of our quarterbacks is a senior, the other a junior,” said Blaha. “I think there will be great competition there.”
Sparta opens the season on its home field Friday, Aug 21. against Black River Falls.
