‘Two-a-days’: The 2015 Hillsboro Tigers

Season Opener: Aug. 21 vs. Wonewoc Center

The boys are back in town. Seventeen starters to be exact, and the experienced group in Hillsboro are making no little plans.

The Crandall brothers, Tyler and Tommy, both return at linebacker and 6 foot five inch Max Stockwell looks to be a force of nature once again on both sides of the ball. Stockwell will start at both tight end and defensive end, along with occasional reps at wide receiver.

“Last year we had to win four of our last five to make playoffs, so I think we can carry that into this season,” said Stockwell.

“It is all a mental game this year, last year we allowed our minds to get to us,” said senior offensive lineman Nolan Hammer. “You know, teams we have not beaten in a long time are still in our way, so it is really just going to be the mental game. We have the athleticism, and the talent. “

The Tigers last held a piece of the action in the Scenic Bluffs in 2006 when they tied for a share of the conference crown. Cashton, Necedah and Bangor all finished with better records in conference last season, a statistic Hillsboro and head coach Eric Auel hope to change this season.
