TV legend helps kick off this summer’s Great River Sound concert series in Onalaska

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – A TV legend is helping Onalaska kick off a summer concert series.

Tuesday’s Great River Sound debut at Dash Park featured Tom Wopat of Dukes of Hazzard fame.

Fans got to meet the star before he took the stage.

Wopat even brought General Lee, the well-known car from the beloved 80s show.

As a Wisconsin native, Wopat says he’s happy to travel around the state and play music.

“I always enjoy getting back here and I have a group of musicians here that I enjoy working with, so it’s kind of a perfect fit,” said Wopat.

Tuesday’s concert was free, but donations will support improvements to Sunny the Sunfish on Highway 35, as well as the non-profit Centering Onalaska.

The Great River Sound series runs every Tuesday night through August.
