Turned Leaf Festival will return this Oktoberfest
Alcohol-free festival provides family friendly games, music, food
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A substance-free alternative to Oktoberfest is expanding.
The annual Turned Leaf Festival in La Crosse will now go from Thursday through Saturday instead of just being a one day event.
The festival focuses on celebrating the Oktoberfest heritage without the alcohol. They’ll have a variety of family friendly activities including games, music, movies, and food.
“There were families who were leaving town or staying home during Oktoberfest weekend, and that’s really taking away from the sense of celebration and the sense of looking at heritage and the original purpose for Oktoberfest,” said Catherine Kolkmeier, of the Changing the Culture of Risky Drinking Behaviors Coalition.
All the events are at Myrick Park starting the same Thursday as Oktoberfest.
