Trauma kits available to help emergency response

Stopping bleeding in an emergency is a task that can’t wait.

Bleeding Control Tool kits are now available in La Crosse from Tri-State Ambulance.

The kits are part of the ‘Stop the Bleed’ campaign to help shorten emergency service times.

While paramedics work to respond to trauma quickly, sometimes that isn’t enough.

“It’s very easy for us to get overwhelmed, and if we have more people in the community that can assist us, especially with basic level trauma care such as what is available in these kits, lives are going to be saved,” La Crosse Fire Department Captain and Paramedic Jim Hillcoat.

The kit includes a tourniquet, gauze, trauma scissors and bandages.
