Trail Trek Challenge expands to last all year
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Mississippi Valley Conservancy made some changes to the Trail Trek Challenge during Earth Fair.
Hikers met at the Myrick Park Center on Sunday, although flooded trails limited hiking options.
But that didn’t stop the Trail Trek Challenge because the conservancy made it a year-round challenge at the event. Hikers could sign up to challenge themselves to hike at least five different trails by next year.
The conservancy’s executive director, Carol Abrahamzon, said hikers should feel free to bring their phones and show off the trails on social media.
“If you can show that you are having a great time on a property that might be a couple-of-hours drive from here, other folks will get interested in doing that too and explore out beautiful Driftless Area. There’s so much to offer here,” said Abrahamzon
The first 100 hikers who signed up for the year-round challenge got free Organic Valley water bottles.
