Traffic reminders ahead of La Crosse’s Rotary Lights

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A La Crosse tradition returns to Riverside Park this week, when volunteers flip the switch on the Rotary Lights display.

Millions of lights will illuminate the part beginning Friday evening.

Visitors will once again be able to drive through the Park each evening.

That can create some traffic back-ups.

La Crosse Police say drivers need to be patient and follow the posted signs.

“Vine Street is going to be actually split up into three different lanes. On the far right side is going to be for local business traffic. and the left side is solely just one way traffic to get you into Rotary Lights,” said La Crosse Police officer Dustin Darling.

The lights turn on Friday evening and they will be on nightly from five until ten in the evening.

There are some changes to the event this year for the safety of visitors during the pandemic.

There will be no parade this year and no formal opening ceremony.

Anyone walking through the display is encouraged to wear a face covering.
