Traffic may slow near UW-La Crosse as students move back in
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Your drive could be impacted this weekend if your commute takes you near the University of Wisconsin La Crosse campus.
UWL students begin moving into the residence halls Thursday morning. Signs will be put up along roads near the campus to direct traffic.
The campus police department wants students and family to know they are available to help.
“To answer questions for any of the parents or students that are coming on campus for the first time, or maybe even navigational questions to get from campus to get a bite to eat, whatever it may be,” said UW-La Crosse Police Department Detective Chris Schuster.
Traffic is not expected to be too bad tomorrow as only one residence hall is opening, but roads near the campus will be much busier on Friday and Saturday.
Impacted roads include:
Highway 16 from Interstate 90 (exit 5) to La Crosse Street
Losey Boulevard from La Crosse Street to Main Street
La Crosse Street from Losey Boulevard to Oakland Street
Main Street from Losey Boulevard to 13th Street
State Street from Losey Boulevard to 13th Street
21st Street North from Main Street to Campbell Road
22nd Street North from La Crosse Street to Campbell Road
