UPDATE: Trempealeau Co. Sheriff’s Dept. identifies victim in fatal crash

Two men lead Trempealeau Co. authorities on chase

INDEPENDENCE, Wis. (WKBT)- One person is dead following a two vehicle crash on State Road 93 in Trempealeau County.

The crash happened Monday morning at 6:44 a.m. near Knudtson Valley Lane in the township of Chimney Rock between Independence and Eleva.

According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, the initial investigation indicates that the car, occupied by 53-year-old Theodore Miland of Eleva, crossed the center line and hit the dump truck head on. As a result of the crash, Miland died.  The driver of the dump truck, 20-year-old Wyatt Hillestad of Eleva, did not report any injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.

The highway is not open after being closed for three hours due to the crash.

Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Eleva Fire Department and First Responders, Strum Fire Department, Independence Fire Department and First Responders, Trempealeau County Highway Department, WI State Patrol, Trempealeau County Coroner, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Arcadia Ambulance, and the WI Department of Natural Resources.
