Toys for Tots “stuff a truck” for children in need
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Nearly 30 kids and adults bundled up for a cause.
The La Crosse Jaycess wrapped up the ‘Stuff a Truck’ event in front of the La Crosse Center on Saturday.
Volunteers are collected toys and donations through a drive-up drop off.
More than 100 people stopped by on foot or car to give to the cause.
Some popular gifts the organization is asking for are, Frozen characters, Nerf guns, and girls hair accessories.
According to one volunteer, over 1,000 kids will receive gifts this year.
The community’s generosity is life changing for the families and the volunteers.
La Crosse Jaycees media director said, “The big day when we give the toys out to the families, that’s the day when every thing comes full circle. You see the look and joy on the people’s face, and the tears in their eyes because they didn’t know if they were going to be able to give their kids a Christmas. And even for me, personally, waking up on Christmas morning, saying, hey I helped some people this morning.”
Registration ends on Saturday, but you can make donations until December 6th.
