Toys For Tots pickup distributed to community
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Last week, Toys For Tots wrapped up their toy drive. On Saturday, they distributed those toys to kids in need all over the community.
Volunteers spent the day giving toys to families that may not be able to afford gifts. The toys being given out will help more than 1,000 kids and roughly 365 families.
Organizers say this 80-year tradition is all about putting yourself in others shoes.
“If you think about it being yourself or your children, I personally would not want my child to wake up on Christmas Day and not have anything under the tree. It would make me feel awful and I don’t want any other child to experience anything like that,” said Amanda Olbrys of the La Crosse Jaycees.
Toys were donated from all around the community, including the toy drive here at News 8.
