Town of Shelby home a total loss after fire; no injuries

6 fire departments assisted with the call

Firefighters from multiple agencies battled a house fire on the 2800 block of Hanifl Road in the Town of Shelby.

The call came in at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The house was fully engulfed when Shelby police arrived on scene.  The couple who lives in the house was able to make it out safely.  They are staying with their son. A dog was reported missing after the fire.

The home is a total loss.  The roof of the two-story home completely collapsed during the fire.

Fighting the fire was difficult because of the limited water supply and the narrow street on which the home was located.  Tanker trucks were brought in from nearby municipalities to help.

Fire crews from Stoddard, Shelby, Campbell, Onalaska, Cashton, Coon Valley, and La Crosse were called for assistance, along with the La Crosse Crosse County Sheriff’s Department, Shelby police and Tri-State Ambulance.
