Town of Campbell Police Dept. raises funds for K9 Unit

Police reserve officers with the Town of Campbell Police Department hit the streets Sunday afternoon to raise money for a new K-9 unit.

The reserve officers lined Dawson Ave., right in front of Shenanigans, with buckets in hand asking for everyone and anyone to donate.

One of the officers helping out said they haven’t had a K-9 unit for about 3 years and he is excited to get a new one because a police dog truly helps fight crime.

“Sometimes there are instances where the four legged animals can do things we simply cannot and detect narcotics and such that really help us do our job better and more efficiently,” said Officer Nathan Casper with the Town of Campbell Police Dept.

The police department will be getting one dog, which will be paired up with an officer. The officer will also be the dogs owner so they will work together on and off-duty.
