Tornado damages La Crosse arena
LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — A roller derby league in La Crosse is looking for a new place to practice after the tornado damaged 1 of their facilities.
Amanda Boucher (BUSH-ehr), a spokeswoman for the Mississippi Valley Mayhem, says the tornado came through on Sunday not long before their practice would have started at the Green Island Ice Arena.
She said a few skaters usually come early and might have been there at the time but were in the Milwaukee area competing.
Officials say at least 200 homes and businesses were damaged. No one was seriously injured or killed.
Boucher says they also practice at a local roller rink and are not sure if that was also damaged. She says they have to find someplace this week to practice for a Saturday bout in Onalaska.
