Tomah woman killed, two seriously injured in Wilton Township crash
WILTON TOWNSHIP, Wis. (WKBT) — A rural Tomah, Wis., woman was killed in a semi-car crash that trapped two people in the car at about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at State Hwy. 131 and County Hwy. A in Wilton Township.
A 2002 Dodge Neon that Wade Streeter of rural Tomah was driving eastbound on County A was crossing the intersection of Hwy. 131 when a southbound 2016 Freightliner struck the vehicle, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Michael McCormick of Blue River, Wis., was driving the semi.
Streeter’s vehicle flipped over on impact, trapping two inside.
Ida Yoder, 49, a passenger in Streeter’s car, died at the scene, while Streeter and another passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, according to deputies. Two medical helicopters responded to the scene to transport them to hospitals.
Part of the roadway was closed for about five hours while deputies processed the scene.
Assisting the Monroe sheriff’s office were the Monroe County 911 Communications Center, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Tomah Police, GundersenAir, MedFlight, Wilton Ambulance, Tomah Ambulance, Sparta Ambulance, Wilton Fire Department, Tomah Rescue Techs, Monroe County Medical Examiner, Monroe County Emergency Management and the Monroe County Highway Department.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating the crash.
