Tomah veterans presented with Quilts of Valor

Dick and Tom Smith celebrated for their service

Saturday was a day of surprises for two brothers that served in the Vietnam War.

Tomah residents Dick and Tom Smith met at Memorial Park in Tomah where a surprise celebration was planned for Dick.  After he was presented with a Quilt of Valor, his brother was surprised with a Quilt of his very own.

“We didn’t get any welcome home and that’s what this was for Dick today is essentially a long awaited welcome home” said Tom Smith.

The Quilts are made to show appreciation for the veterans and the time they have served.

“I hope all of the veterans understand that most people care and that they’re appreciated” said Dick Smith.
