Tomah police: Authorities determine ‘dynamite’ was fireworks
TOMAH (WKBT) — The cylindrical tubes found in the back of a truck that were reported as dynamite to the Tomah Police Department turned out to be fireworks, according to a release.
Tomah Police Department Assistant Chief Eric Pedersen updated the public on the department’s Facebook page Wednesday, sharing photos so the community understands why authorities responded with caution.
The photos show long cylinders wrapped in brown cardboard with fuses.
“It would’ve been much easier if they were labeled with ACME and we were able to take a nefarious-looking coyote into custody,” Pedersen said.
The police department responded on Monday to a report of someone possessing dynamite in a parking lot. Police asked the Dane County EOD Technicians to confiscate the items and determine what they were.
Pedersen said the police department would be discussing the case with the Monroe County District Attorney.
