Celebrating International Owl Awareness Day
Groups were also able to talk to expert owl speakers from around the world
HOUSTON, Minn (WKBT) – The International Owl Center is drawing attention to its favorite bird on International Owl Awareness Day.
On Saturday, the organization hosted several programs and even a beaded owl art contest. Artists came from around the area to participate in the contest and help with the art projects.
Groups were also able to talk to expert owl speakers from around the world at the facility as well as on Zoom.
Indoor programs like this are limited due to the pandemic, but that doesn’t stop the center from helping people learn in every way possible.
“For social distancing, we ask people to stay one Blakiston’s Fish Owl apart. So the Blakiston’s Fish Owl is the largest owl species in the world and it has a six-foot wingspan,” said Executive Director, Karla Bloem.
The art contest will be going on for the next two weeks.
