Tips offered to avoid overspending during holiday shopping
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Whether you are shopping online or in a store, you may want to make sure that you avoid overspending to help keep everyone happy this holiday.
Americans spent $22.7 billion at department stores alone during December of 2016 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Experts say planning ahead can help save you from problems later.
“Take cash with you. And I know that’s hard to do online, but when you’re out shopping and you have an envelope of cash, you know you have a finite amount of dollars,” said Bruce Zmolek, President of Firefighters Credit Union.
Holiday shopping in December results in about 19 percent of sales for jewelry stores, as well as toy stores.
