Three local high schools rank among best in the state

Study looked at multiple factors

Three high schools in our area are among the top ten percent of public schools in Wisconsin.

Prairie Du Chien, Memorial High in Eau Claire, and Onalaska were ranked among the top ten percent The findings from the U.S. News & World Report looked at graduation rates, college readiness, and the performance of minority and low-income students.

Only the top 90 out of 507 public high schools in the state were ranked.

The Onalaska School District Superintendent says these kinds of awards show the efforts of more than just school staff.

“Our board president said Monday night, ‘It takes a whole village to raise kids,’ and that’s true. When we hear those kinds of things, that’s a district-wide award. Not only the elementary, middle and high school teachers should celebrate,” said Onalaska School District Superintendent Fran Finco.
