Thousands participate in YMCA’s Maple Leaf Run Walk
More than 2,000 participate in activity
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Thousands got up bright and early to take part in YMCA’S Maple Leaf run walk.
More than 2,000 athletes of all ages could be seen running through part of the parade route which started at Riverside Park in La Crosse.
All of the proceeds benefit the La Crosse Area Family Y-M-C-A’s youth programs, including swim lessons, music lessons and the Y’s Community Teen Center.
One UWL alumni did the half marathon last year and said he made sure to come back this year because it is such a wonderful event.
“It’s just great to see everyone coming out here, wanting to better themselves and doing some fitness. Being a recreation major, it’s just an awesome feeling and I always love being here,” said Hubie Krawczyk.
People could participate in a half marathon, five mile run or a 5-k walk. There was also a one-mile run for kids.
