The annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign begins Monday

Drivers can also be cited for every unbuckled passenger in their car

LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Area law enforcement agencies and transportation officials have a simple message to motorists: buckle up, every seat, every trip.

The Annual “Click It or Ticket” seat belt campaign begins Monday in Wisconsin. It will last two weeks, until July 5th.

During the campaign, law enforcement agencies across the state will patrol in greater numbers, for longer hours, to ensure people are traveling safely.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Wisconsin’s current seat belt use is 90.2%, the highest ever.

However, in fatal car and light truck crashes last year, 44% were not wearing their seat belt.

Officers can stop and cite drivers for failing to wear a seat belt.

Drivers can also be cited for every unbuckled passenger in their car.
