Terry Donovan set to lead La Crescent’s new football era
Has coached offense at Kasson-Mantorville since 2008
A new era of football is set to begin at La Crescent-Hokah, as Terry Donovan has taken the head coaching reins.
Donovan has been an offensive coordinator for Class 4-A Kasson-Mantorville since 2008. The Komets were a state-runner up in 4A this past season.
Donovan credits new AD Eriah Hayes as someone he’s excited to work with, and with La Crescent’s rebuilding status, he sees a great opportunity to build something from almost the ground up.
“We’re a run-first team,” Donovan said. “We have a lot of–we’re based in some option football. It teaches a lot of great fundamentals. It teaches toughness, it teaches togetherness. It’s selflessness.
The biggest challenge I think right now probably is belief–belief that we can do anything.
“One of the things I want to give kudos to to both the school district and previous staff is we didn’t play varsity football in 2019 or 2020, and there was COVID, and they still came back to play last year. Our foundation is going to be build on the foundation they just did there.
“Day one we’re going to work on two things: belief and effort. Those two things can carry a team a long way.”
