Temporary barricades now in place at Winona crash site
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — Concrete barricades are now temporarily in place at the site of a recent crash that killed four people.
The barricades were put up so city officials can review the safety of Huff Street and Riverview Drive in Winona.
In early January, 36-year-old Christina Lee Hauser of Winona drove through a guard rail into the Mississippi River after missing a curve in the road.
Hauser, along with her three passengers, all died.
The city hopes the temporary fix will prevent future crashes from happening. “We can’t take into consideration every situation, we’re looking at those that we think could occur and we think this is a good solution on a temporary basis,” said Winona’s City Manager Judy Bodway.
The city is waiting to make any decisions on changing the road’s design until the official state patrol report is released later this month.
