Tax help soon available in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Tax help is available for people in the La Crosse area as filing season gets underway.
The AARP Tax Aide program will offer free assistance preparing basic federal and state returns for middle and low-income taxpayers.
Library staff say the effort has a big impact for the community.
“Last year we helped over fifteen hundred people have their taxes prepared for free, I believe the constituted over a million dollars in returns coming back locally,” said Heather Miller, La Crosse Public Library Volunteer Coordinator.
Help will be provided Tuesday through Thursday at La Crosse Public Library’s main branch from February 1st through April 12th.
Appointments can be made by calling 608-789-7443.
The appointment desk is staffed weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
